How Would You Characterize the Leadership of Walmart...

Part 5 Question 2: How would you characterize the leadership of Walmart founder Sam Walton? The leadership of Walmart is Authentic Leadership which refers to individuals who know and understand themselves, who espouse and act consistent with higher order ethical values, and who empower and inspire others with their openness and authenticity. There are 5 key characteristics of authentic leaders, which are: (i) Authentic leaders pursue their purpose with passion, (ii) Authentic leaders practice solid values, (iii) Authentic leaders lead with their hearts as well their heads, (iv) Authentic leaders establish connect relationships, (v) Authentic leaders demonstrate self-discipline. It is clear when he mention that â€Å"just because we work hard, we don’t have to go around with long faces.† Besides that, to Sam Wilton, the stunt contained an important business lesson. The stunt can attract people to whom they want to attract and they will be pay up. Thus, even though we are in pressure, we must hide it and show our dedication to other person through smiling. If the leaders practice the solid values, it will make other worker to do so. Indirectly, the leader became a role model to the worker in their work. Leaders have big responsibility to be handling, by practicing the solid value, it will smooth the management. Third characteristic is authentic leaders lead with their hearts as well their heads. All leaders sometimes have to make tough choices, but authentic leaders maintain a compassion for others as well as the courage to make difficult decisions. In Walmart, the newly minted manager got to work recruiting 350 new associated, and initiated all hires with the same cheer. The manager should decide the new worker appropriately even though she a new manager. She also works with confident and told the new recruit that she start work on 19 years old.
